One of the things that make living with a hair stylist interesting is that we never know, sometimes she doesn’t know, what color her hair might be when she comes home from work. She may leave of the morning with a light brown and return that evening with ash blonde, bright red, or some tri-color combination that her co-workers thought would be cool. It makes life interesting.
So, we decided that since this is a regularly occurring thing that we should document the change in hair color, especially when they’re using Aveda’s new line of vivid colors. For March, she decided to go with a blend of blue into violet, with the thought that as it inevitably fades it will do so toward a light ash color. We shot these pictures after one wash and what we found is that the violet is skewing a bit darker than we expected even under the lights. I could have pushed the color more in post, but that just didn’t look pleasing.
We also had fun with the styling as we’re preparing for our spring projects. If there’s one thing we learned from the fall/winter runway season it is that there is no wrong way to dress, apparently. Anything goes. So, I reached into her closet and threw things at her. I’ve seen worse combinations.
