I like sharing pictures like these. I thoroughly enjoy taking pictures like these. I don’t do it more because there just aren’t that many people willing to show the world who they really are, to be a bit vulnerable, to step from behind the facade we all create when we’re in public. I wish there were more people like this. In fact, I wish we all could be like this. Just open a bottle of wine, and chill.
There’s a stigma of sorts related to young women and wine bottles. Some have suggested that young women hide in their wine bottles. In fact, Millennial women drink almost half the wine consumed in America. While that’s an interesting statistic, it’s worth noting that the number of alcoholics among that age group is actually lower than it was for their parents at the same age. I won’t speculate about the future and neither should you.
Wine bottles and wine glasses also make good props for pictures like this. They provide a continuity beyond the form of the body.
Neither the wine bottle nor the glass is the focus here, though. What we want to see is the beauty behind that bottle, the person, the living soul (as opposed to a dead soul, which isn’t all that attractive at all and a lot more difficult to photograph). She’s not beautiful because she’s naked, but because she’s honest about who she is, beautiful in her openness, gorgeous in her insistence on being accepted as she is. These are not traits that just happen. We have them as children. We are born without filters. But the moment an adult tells us we have to put on clothes, that we have to cover up who we are, we take the literal and apply it automatically to the metaphorical and from that moment we not only cover our bodies but our spirits as well. We cower in fear that someone may see us for who we really are.
I applaud anyone who poses nude. Their reasons are irrelevant. Being willing to accept who we are, even when standing behind a wine glass, is the most beautiful trait we could ever share with the world.
