Returning to our summer outdoor series, we took Meghan out in search of quiet places of solitude. Summer seems the perfect time for evenings where one can sit outside and reflect on the day, or life, or thinking of plans for the future. At least, that’s the idyllic picture we’ve always been sold.
Actually finding that peace and quiet proved to be a bit of a challenge. I did remember to finally bring the bug spray with me. This would be the only time through the series that I actually managed to achieve that goal. The spray worked and so there have been no reports of serious itching and scratching since the pictures were taken. It’s amazing how much mosquitoes can ruin the peace and quiet of a serene setting.
The other challenge, however, was that no matter where we went, and we tried several places, people were already there! Not that we can blame them. On the whole, this has been a fantastic summer for getting out later in the day (midday not so much), especially if one enjoys being near or on the water. However, we found ourselves having to get a bit creative to carve out some space of our own where it was safe to do our own thing.
Meghan was incredibly patient, though, and we got a number of fantastic shots that remind us just how quiet and relaxing a summer’s evening can be. As always, click on the thumbnail below to view the full gallery.
